The Steifmaster Southampton vs Man City prediction
The precursor to the often hectic December Premier League month begins this weekend with all the 20 topflight clubs in action across England. League leaders Chelsea will be odds on favorites to extend their unbeaten run to 13 matches when they travel to Tyne Wear in a clash against Sunderland while Southampton’s tough run of fixtures starts with the visit of Manchester City. Here’s your matchday dose of thesteifmastertake weekend predictions. Have your say!
Southampton 1 1 Manchester City (Sunday, 1800hrs)
The classic match of the weekend will be this fixture with Southampton testing their resolve against Manchester City. The Saints have once again been the surprise team of the season picking up wins with enviable regularity. A second place and 7 points ahead of the fourth placed team is anything but a perfect start for a club that lost key players in all areas of the pitch during the summer.
Although they haven’t been tested much, their biggest test is in store this Sunday with Manchester City arriving at the St Mary’s. The Premier League champions beat Swansea 2-1 last weekend but it was the 3-2 win over Bayern Munich in midweek that could turn their season into a more consistent run. For Southampton, this clash marks the start of a tough run of fixtures that will test their mental and physical tenacity.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea are among the clubs they face in their next matches and it will be interesting to see how they will set themselves up against some of the Premier League’s best. In the meantime though, they have Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City to deal with and though my guts tell me the defending champions will be tough to get the result against, just look at the form of Sergio Aguero, a draw is the bare minimum they will get.
And That’s thesteifmastertake!!
