The duo’s suspension comes slightly less than a month since 15 individuals, including 2 Head Coaches and 13 players were suspended over similar allegations.
The Mathare United duo of Lennox Ogutu and Alphonse Ndonye are the latest to be suspended over alleged involvement in match fixing.
A letter from Football Kenya Federation reads, “Football Kenya Federation is in receipt of reports alleging that the two players are involved in match fixing practices in the Kenyan game.”
“Meanwhile, in an effort to protect the integrity of the game during this investigation period, we wish to inform you that we have regrettably suspended both Mr. Ogutu and Mr. Ndonye from all football related activities until the matter is concluded, “ added the letter.
The duo’s suspension comes slightly less than a month since 15 individuals, including 2 Head Coaches and 13 players were suspended over similar allegations.
FKF CEO Barry Otieno had said at the time, “In an effort to protect the integrity of the league, in line with the federation’s zero-tolerance policy on match-fixing, the federation has with immediate effect provisionally suspended the following individuals pending the investigations of the matter by Fifa and the FKF’s integrity department,” said a statement signed by FKF general secretary Barry Otieno.
“All FKF members are advised to avoid any form of sporting contact with the aforementioned individuals during their suspension period,” Otieno added.
