 Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia secured their place in the next round of the CAF Champions League preliminary matches on Sunday with an impressive victory over South Sudan's Al Merreikh Bentiu. 

After losing 1-0 in the first leg, Gor Mahia needed to mount a comeback at the Nyayo National Stadium, and they did so in style, defeating their visitors 5-1 to set another exciting clash against Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

The match, attended by Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, began on a shaky note for Gor Mahia. In the 8th minute, Al Merreikh Bentiu's Samuel Akinbinu scored the opening goal, putting the Kenyan champions in a difficult position. 

However, Gor Mahia responded swiftly, with Chris Ochieng equalizing just three minutes later. From then on, it was a goal fest for Gor Mahia. Alphas Onyango and Alphonse Omija added two more goals, giving Gor Mahia a 3-1 lead by halftime.

Gor Mahia will now face Egyptian giants and record African champions Al Ahly in the next round, in what promises to be a stern test of their mettle under new Brazilian tactician Leonardo Martins Neiva.
