AFC Leopards unveil new replica jerseys
AFC Leopards on Tuesday morning officially launched their team’s new jerseys in a brief ceremony held at the Ikulu grounds in Nairobi. The traditional blue and white hooped jerseys famously nicknamed 'Rio Tinto' landed in Nairobi on Monday and will be in circulation in selected outlets across the country starting Tuesday.
Speaking during the launching ceremony, AFC Leopards’ assistant Secretary General Geoffrey Mulanya warned those circulating and selling the fake jerseys that they risk being arrested and encouraged fans to support the club by buying the original jerseys which have been designed in line with the long history of the club with the fans’ view in mind.
“The return of the traditional home stripe was due to popular demand by diehard Ingwe Fans who requested the office to revert to the nostalgic stripes after the former office experimented with various unpopular options.” Said Mulanya.
The new -Mumias Sugar branded jerseys- will retail at 1500 each and can be purchased at different stores in Nairobi including:JAWAMED located at the mezzanine floor of Afya center,Imbaare stores in Kawangware, Buruburu tents in Eastlands and Prisons Grill in Langata next to Uchumi Super market.
SportsBiz Company has been appointed the official nationwide distributors on behalf of AFC Leopards but Private Dealers wishing to circulate the jerseys have an open chance to apply for purchase of the jerseys at discounted rates.
Also present during the launching ceremony at the Ikulu grounds were members of the AFC Leopards’ EC Fred Lutta, Anthony Walela and Patrick Ngaira.
